Daniel W. King, age 86, of Coloma, passed away Sunday evening, January 29, 2012 at Wild Rose Manor.
He was born March 8, 1925 in the Township of Richford, the son of Fred R. and Mabel (Bandt) King. He married Iona Jean Olson on October 20, 1951 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Coloma.
Daniel served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a local construction worker for a number of years; he then began working for Rockwell International in Oshkosh where he was employed until his retirement.
After his retirement, he enjoyed his property in Richford, also known as his sanctuary. He fed many fish from his pond and enjoyed watching the deer, ducks, pheasants and peacocks that would visit him daily. Daniel was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Coloma and a former member of the Coloma Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Iona Jean King, Coloma; his four children, Debra (Norman) Kemnitz, Westfield; Paula (Terry) Loker, Oshkosh; Christy (Ronald) Hahn, Princeton; Larry (Gwen) King, Princeton; 9 grandchildren, Amber Laurent, Omro; Abby Swan, Westfield; Aric and Adam Kemnitz, Westfield; Alisa Kemnitz, Madison; Ryan and Joe Curtis, Oshkosh; Nicholas Hahn, Fond du Lac and Sarah Drews, Green Lake. He is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey, Arthur, Martin, Robert King and one great-grandchild, Ethan.
Funeral Services for Mr. Daniel W. King will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 12:00 NOON in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Coloma with Pastor William Dow officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Hillside Cemetery, Coloma.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 9:00am until the time of services at the Church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
